ACHSA Membership Information
If you’re interested in advancing your career in correctional health care, learning from the experience of leading medical and nursing experts, and enjoying access to a network of health care colleagues nationwide, consider becoming a member of ACHSA—the American Correctional Health Services Association.
We’d like to invite you to become a member of ACHSA, the national professional organization whose members—physicians, nurses, medical directors, and allied health professionals—share a unique vocation meeting the health care needs of American’s prisons and jails.
ACHSA’s mission is simple: To help you succeed in a very challenging field, by offering a wide range of professional development and networking opportunities—at an affordable price.
Providing healthcare for the general population is demanding enough, but providing it for incarcerated patients adds a whole range of specialized and ever-changing problems to those encountered in treating traditional patient populations. No medical school curriculum, PA, nursing or other program teaches the skills and knowledge needed to provide health care to prison and jail inmates. That’s why ACHSA
exists: To provide the “how to” skills and hands-on solutions developed by the nation’s foremost practitioners for dealing with or managing correctional patients.

Online resources. Information on current professional topics of interest, access to the writings of experts from across the nation on a broad range of medical, legal, and operational topics, and useful links to organizations and agencies involved in correctional health care.
National, regional, and local continuing education conferences. Networking with others in similar circumstances. You are not alone. ACHSA membership offers you access to a broad based and knowledgeable network of correctional health professionals, experienced in confronting the challenges you also face. They can help with information about what they did that worked and what resources are available.
ACHSA Members’ Online Forum. This message board is a place to ask questions, respond to questions, or express your point of view on clinical issues, nursing issues, and more.
Distance Learning and Degree Opportunities. ACHSA has partnered with The College Network to provide members accessible educational opportunities at reduced cost. Advance your education and income potential while maintaining your career and family commitments. TCN’s university partners offer a wide variety of associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degree programs for health care professionals.
The ACHSA Career Center. This essential online employment resource for the correctional health care community was created in response to increased demands by employers and recruiters for highly qualified correctional health care job candidates. For job seekers: ACHSA’s Career Center is free to all job seekers and provides you with access to the best employers and jobs in correctional health care. For employers: ACHSA’s Career Center offers the most targeted advertising for your correctional health care job openings.

National Membership Dues are $50 plus chapter dues where applicable.
Membership benefits are for a full 12 months from the date of receipt of your membership application. You will be billed for subsequent years as of the date of your membership anniversary.
Chapter Dues are as listed. You are encouraged to participate in chapter meetings and activities. Members pay their chapter dues together with their national dues directly to ACHSA.
